Mini Movie Review: Shutter Island (2010)

Set in the 1950’s, US Marshal Teddy Daniels and his new partner Chuck Aule arrive at Shutter Island to investigate the disappearance of a patient from the hospital for the criminally insane. With nobody else on the island but the wardens, inmates and a seemingly sinister psychiatrist, Teddy soon suspects that something else is going on that nobody dares speak about.

Shutter Island is a stylish psychological thriller and a very good one too. The plot is well sign posted but keeps you guessing to the very end and this is one movie that benefits from multiple viewings to fully appreciate all the subtle clues as to the island’s secrets.

Score: 4/5
