Fact is that Google hates Arabs and the Middle East. Why else would they have made an open source mobile platform that doesn’t even have native support for Arabic text and proper ligature?
There are plenty of Android phones currently available in the Gulf yet few, if any, have proper Arabic support and those that do are forced to implement it using some half assed third party add-on crap. It’s not the fault of the handset manufacturers, they are bound by whatever Android can provide and are limited by whatever localisation the platform can offer.
For Google to ignore a market of some 500 million just because their developers can’t figure out how to use Unicode is just plain daft for a company that prides itself on being "smart".
